Kids Yoga

Yuka is passionate about teaching yoga to children, and she completed Kids Yoga certification through Kidding Around Yoga. She currently teaches yoga in elementary schools. Not only did she earn her certification, but she learned how to incorporate “adult” yoga into a kids’ yoga format, which she thought would be almost impossible. Yuka teaches yoga poses through songs, dance, games, stories, and, most importantly, yoga philosophy to help them understand how the mind fluctuates, and why we meditate to control our busy minds. This is the goal of yoga for adults, as well as for children. It is also a skill that can positively change children throughout their entire lives.

Zen Kids Yoga

Class Description:

The Zen Kids Yoga class provides a unique curriculum designed to motivate children to be active, build confidence, and manage the spectrum of emotions that they experience in their day-to-day activities.

Yoga is so beneficial for all ages: it promotes stress management for cultivating calm and peace, a focused mind for improving the attention span, great exercise for coordination, strength, and flexibility, fun and play within energy movement, and guided meditation for their relaxation.

Yuka has been practicing yoga for almost 15 years. Because yoga brought so much joy and peace to her life, she always wanted to pass on this beautiful practice to her daughter. Her daughter has been practicing yoga through kids’ yoga classes since she was 3, but Yuka was not able to find an effective method of teaching her daughter or other children yoga until she found the Kidding Around Yoga method.

The program is truly magical; it teaches Yoga asanas, meditation, sutras, pranayama (breathing techniques), and savasana. Each class consists of a warm-up through a short story with yoga poses, meditation talk, sun salutation, an OM workshop with poses, mindful games, partner poses, and so much more!

Yuka finds it highly rewarding to see her students look peaceful and mindful after meditation and find good rest during guided meditation (relaxation pose). Yuka also enjoys her yoga journey with her 9-year-old daughter, Teruna who inspires her every day.
